August 20 2009, the U.S. Senate gave the Alberta Clipper the green light to build more pipelines. Unfortunately the result will cause far more pollution and gave the top Oil corporations a reason not do anything about changing their environmental direction.
More pipelines, means far more barrels of Dirty Oil from the Tar Sands... 5 times more dirty Oil, and may very well be the tipping point Environmentalists were worried about.
More dirty Oil also means the loss of more Fresh Water, used to bring the Oil up from the ground, and also contributes to underground water pollution. Not only in Alberta, but anywhere a pipeline is, and especially around any refinery. Lake Superior will be under more threat of water poisoning as a result. Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, and Lake Erie are all now facing pollution from dirty Oil.
