This long time activist gives a damning account of the state of human right situation in the Philippines, exacerbated by US intervention and so-called war on terrorism.

During the presentation, Ms. Hilao-Enriquez showed pictures of persons who had been tortured and executed by Filipino Armed Forces. The current president of the Philippines, Gloria Macagapal Arroyo, has sold out to globalization, US plantation capitalism, militarism and her human rights record is as bad as Ferdinand Marcos, the hated dictator, who plundered his country and enslaved his own people. Thousands are displaced by war in Mindanao and other muslim dominated islands, peasants demanding land reform and justice are found dead, their body showing traces of inhumane torture and the US continues to arm the land owning oligarchy.
