On this edition of Radio Basics, we explore Canadaâs Supreme Court ruling this December 2013 that struck down Canadaâs laws around prostitution. We interview two long-time organizers around the issue, whose positions though not necessarily contradictory somewhat reflect the long-standing debate between those pushing for âdecriminalizationâ and those advocating âabolitionâ. We speak to Chanelle Gallant from Maggieâs-Toronto, a Toronto-based sex workers action project; and Suzanne Baustad, co-founder of Grassroots Women â an anti-imperialist womenâs group that was active in Vancouver between 1995 and 2010 and worked to address the systemic marginalization of working class women. - See more at: http://basicsnews.ca/2013/12/7528/
