The ancient trade route that criss-crossed several empires – China, Mongolia, Central Asia, to Siberia, and the Middle East – is an expanse of steppe and desert, of mountains, and wilderness. Galloping melodies, caravan drums, throat singing, intimate folk songs, shamanic chants, mythical heroes define this musical soundscape.
