In July 2004 anti-racist researchers and activists toured Serbia, Romania, Ukraine and Poland to meet with refugees, migrants, and their advocates. Our goal was to understand better how people are moving across the eastern borders of Europe and how to support that movement.

This fourth program looks at three communities of migrants in Belgrade
and Timisoara -- those Chinese, Arab and Roma shopkeepers working in
markets of both cities, and South Asian students studying in Timisoara.
Amidst profound insecurity and isolation, how are communities formed?
