Cindy's son Casey went to serve in US army in the Iraq war despite the fact that both mother and son believed the reasons for war were a farce. He was killed five days after he arrived. Cindy's subsequent meeting with Bush was less than impressive and Cindy has since gone on to help found Gold Star Families for Peace, as well as help bring about awareness of the Downing Street Memo and its contents.
