2008 December 6., on Saturday night at 21:30 in the center of Athens Alexandros Grigoropoulos was murdered by the cops. The murder happened after a small group of anarchists argued with the crew of a police car. The anarchist didnt have with them any Molotov cocktails, stones or other weapons.

There were many eyewitnesses, since the place has a lot of busy bars, and is very crowded, especially on Saturday night. One of the policemen shot and killed the 15 years old young boy in cold blood.

The two policemen left the boy dead on the ground. The names of the policemen who killed the boy are Epaminodas Korkoneas (37 years old) and Vasilis Saraliotis (31 years old).

AS RENEWED rioting took place in the Greek capital of Athens overnight, the Greek press was expecting a government reshuffle in light of highly critical poll results published yesterday.

Violence began shortly after a memorial commemoration on Saturday night at the site where 15-year-old Alex- andros Grigoropoulos was killed by a policeman two weeks ago.

Around 150 masked youths broke off from the memorial and headed to the Athens Technical University to attack police and state property with Molotov cocktails as well as set fire to rubbish bins. Police reacted with tear gas.

Local radio stations were temporarily taken over by demonstrators, who broadcast statements against the police, nepotism and consumerism.

More than 100 people have been injured and about 400 have been detained during two weeks of protests triggered by the police shooting death of the teenager.

According to a newspaper poll published yesterday , Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis’ ruling Nea Dimokratia party would receive only 32.5 percent of the vote compared to 38.5 percent for the opposition Socialists led by Giorgos Papandreou if elections were held today.

The Greek press was united in expecting the reshuffling of the government in coming days. — Sapa-DPA
