In 2004 I developed a new model of how people could keep accounts, and presented on this to the Alternative European Social Forum. This model, Altruistic Economics, was inspired by a thought experiment I carried out while caring for my sick grandmother.

My alternative vision for economics is that we could be altruistic rather than selfish maximisers. I highlight some problems of the current economic system and outline how a friend2friend gift economy could work.
