The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of all possible frequencies of electromagnetic radiation. This includes radio waves and the internet. Although we use the spectrum daily most don't think about it much. However there has been continuous attempts to control the spectrum by both governments and private companies. Edward Melillo history professor at Amherst College explains the importance of the spectrum, the attempts to control and privatize it and the need for the realization of an electromagnetic commons.
