After the Montreal Mirror shut down, a small group of its former employees started a website called CultMTL, which was to feature the same brand of local interest stories and event listings that had made the Mirror a Montreal fixture. Their efforts were warmly received, and the group soon found themselves publishing a print edition as well as the website.

Now, as CultMTL celebrates its first birthday, Editor in Chief Lorraine Carpenter reflects on its history so far. She describes the turbulent days after the group lost their jobs at the Mirror, and discusses their prospects for the future.
Interview by Anne (Aylin) Malcolm for the CKUT Morning Afters.
This piece was recorded at the CultMTL anniversary celebration at the Société des Arts Technologiques.
