I'm talking with Stacy Malkan of Friends of the Earth talking about the bees and their alarming die-off. Bees and other pollinators, essential for two-thirds of the food crops humans eat everyday, are in great peril, and populations are dwindling worldwide. A growing body of science has implicated the world's most widely-used pesticides, neonicotinoids (neonics) made by giant chemical companies . .the usual culprits, Bayer and Syngenta and Monstanto, as a key factor in recent global bee-offs . . .(along with breast cancers and other kinds of cancers, I add. It is astounding what deadly products these companies have spread throughout our precious environment. Stacy Malkan has led campaigns to move the market to safer products. and author of "Not Just a Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry" Stacy has appeared on Democracy Now, writes for the Huffington Post.
