Some months ago America and its allies tried to coerce the African Union to send troops to interfere in the internal politics of Burundi with the goal of destabilizing and removing the government.

That exercise failed, but since that time there have been a number of assassinations of Burundian leaders.

As in so many other cases where the game is regime change the US and Belgium has exploited the acts of terror, trying to place blame on the targeted government. But, as Mr. Tazira points out “history” has become a factor. The people of the Great Lakes region and Burundi have seen these games before and are much more prepared to defend themselves.
