Journey Without Maps brings you vintage, rare, and underground global music from uncharted sonic territories. Every week, I unearth a new musical landscape: African soul & funk, Latin rhythms, eastern European electronica, Middle East psychedelic, Asian surf rock … and more.
Journey Without Maps is a production of WERA-LP 96.7 FM and Arlington Independent Media. For archives, updates, and to broadcast the episodes on your station, contact:

Driven by hunger and desperation, they boarded dismal and disease ridden ships by the millions to make the long journey to America. In New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis, and other cities, they toiled in factories, mills, and coal mines; on the railroads, in domestic and public service. But their hearts beat strongly for a green land across the sea – and their songs sang of painful nostalgia and hope for a better life. Tunes from American-born Irish musicians, songs of emigration, and vintage 78rpm recordings from the masters of traditional Irish music.
