This oprogram focuses on the truce in context and details the social and political conditions that gave rise to gangs and gang violence and various people involved with the gangs today express hopes for the future. Unfortunately there are almost no female voices in this piece. Two interviews I did with female gang counsellors and researchers including Ginny Sikes, author of "8-ball chicks" had technical problems due to faulty equipment. If you are using this documentary as part of an educational course 8-Ball Chicks and Luis Rodtiguez' "Always Running" as well as Mike Davis' "City of Quartz" would be excellent supplementary material.
